Can I claim rent expenses if I am living with someone who owns the house, but I am paying half of the expenses/ mortgage?

Can I claim rent expenses if I am living with someone who owns the house, but I am paying half of the expenses/ mortgage?
Personal rent expense is not tax deductible expense, unless you qualify for the home office deduction if your office is used regularly and exclusively for your business and is your principal place of business; Or, if you received wage income by working from home for an employer and your home office was for the convenience of your employer – not just you.
