1099's - Original and amended 1099

I received my 1099's from Brokerage firm. If Turbotax is able to download the information and automatically input it etc, and THEN I subsequently receive an amended 1099 later from same brokerage, can I download that one and will it simply overwrite and use the new data? Will it only download the changes or revisions etc so that the overall data remains accurate? Thanks for any help or answer.

If you receive a corrected 1099 from your brokerage after having entered the original into TurobTax, you should delete the original Form 1099 before downloading the corrected Form 1099.

Thank you. I think you need to delete the “import” via a command and edit feature on Turbotax and then re-import the amended 1099, correct?

Yes,

  • If you can identify the specific record(s)  that were changed, delete those records and manually enter the new ones.
  • You can also go into each individual record on the 1099, and delete all of them.  You will have to delete each one individually by selecting the trash can located on the right-hand side. You could then import the new 1099.
