1099-B Category a

I'm using TT 2021 and entering my 1099-B info. But the program doesn't give a place to enter the information on the form for Category A, only for category D.

Am I supposed to enter the information for Category A somewhere?

Where and how do I enter the info for category A (looks like that's "short term" gain).

Thanks

I think I figured it out--I need to enter each category as a separate sale.

Thanks.

When you select Short-term basis reported to IRS (covered), it is for Category A transactions. You don't need to enter it anywhere else.

The Long-term basis reported to IRS (covered) is for Category D transactions.

You can enter the summaries of the different sales sections and afterward, attach your 1099-B to the tax return (after entering the summaries, TurboTax will ask you to upload a pdf file).

To enter sales summaries on the same screen as shown below:

Box 1d:  Enter the total of all category A proceeds

Box 1e:  Enter the cost basis in this box
