# What are the federal tax rates for 2018?

Below are the federal tax rate formulas for 2018 personal (individual) taxes. Please note that these formulas apply to 2018 taxable (not gross) income and don't take into consideration tax credits, such as the EITC or the Child Tax Credit.

But why do all the math yourself? Get the bottom line for both your federal and state taxes by signing in to TurboTax Online. We search for more than 350 tax deductions and our calculations are guaranteed 100% accurate. Best of all, there's no obligation; you only pay if you decide to print or file your return.

Keep in mind: Although 5 of the 7 marginal tax rates have been lowered this year, that may not necessarily translate into a bigger refund, especially if you didn't update your W-4 to account for the lower rates. Instead, you may have gotten bigger paychecks in 2018 or a lower balance due on your 2018 tax return.
