Yes, if your eBay sales are considered a business (even a small side business) by the CRA, you generally need to upgrade to TurboTax Self-Employed (or the desktop "Home & Business" version) to properly report your income and deductions.

    Why You Need to Upgrade

    • T2125 Form Required: To report side-hustle income, you must file Form T2125 (Statement of Business or Professional Activities), which is not available in the basic/standard TurboTax products.
    • Deducting Expenses: Upgrading allows you to deduct eBay fees, shipping costs, and the cost of items sold, which is essential if you want to lower your tax liability on that small profit.
    • CPP Implications: If your net profit exceeds $3,500 for the year, you must pay CPP on that income.
    • CRA Data Sharing: eBay is now required to report seller data to the CRA if you exceed $2,800 in sales or 30 transactions.

    Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
