State tax refund

I got a state tax refund last year, but claimed the sales tax deduction.  I'm pretty sure the refund shouldn't be taxable, but Turbotax is treating it like it is.  Shouldn't there be a questionnaire where I say I claimed sales tax last year?

State tax refund

if you itemized last year and received a state tax refund, then it's taxable.  if you used the standard deduction last year, then it's not taxable.

I suspect TT carried over your data from last year and 'knows' you itemized.

you already received the deduction for the sales tax last year so there is no need to adjust that.
