My husband passed 2018 we filed joint the previous year. this year my return was rejected because it couldn't verify my Adjusted Gross Income which was not listed under my name but both of ours. does this mean i will have to paper file? Or is there a way to show that this years return is filed jointly (which it was) although my husband was deceased 7 months out of 2018?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
you still use last years number because you are on it as filing joint
Having the same issue, and nothing has changed!!
Looked at the returns I have here...…...amount is correct!
Downloaded the forms from the IRS site...…..amount is the same!!
No help from the IRS, "You'll have to mail in the forms"!!!
Just tried it again.
We'll see, but I did notice that even though I put in only numbers, Turbo Tax adds a period at the end of the amount.
If the IRS system is not looking for that period, will it reject the amount, hence the whole return??
When did you file 2017? If it was late in the year try putting in zero for the AGI. And see, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/rejections/help/what-if-i-entered-the-correct-agi-and-i-m-still-ge...
If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.
How to mail a return from the Online version
Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
