Why is it like that this year? I've never had to wait for forms ever

Many forms, particularly state forms for several states, are still in process; many are currently projected to be available on January 31, 2024, subject to change.

This is primarily due to late changes in the tax laws from Congress and state legislatures, and then to policies, regulations, and forms as developed by the IRS and the state tax agencies. TurboTax and other software providers then have to reprogram and test their products.
