Why is it making me wait to file my taxes till January 15? I don't qualify for a trump account or want one.

Maybe you are waiting for some forms.  Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.

Many federal and state forms are not yet available.  Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.

Be patient.

IF you e-file now, your return will go into “pending” until the IRS starts to accept/reject returns in late January. You cannot make any changes while the return is on the server. The IRS will start to accept/reject 2025 e-files on January 26.   And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.

The IRS has not even announced when they will open e-filing for the season, usually it is the last week of January.  So even if Turbotax did allow you to file early, it will just on a server somewhere until the IRS opens.  Turbotax can't e-file until the forms are approved by the IRS.  As the IRS has a lot of changes this year, there might be delays even with simple returns.  And if you have children, the IRS might have created a rule that tax providers can't file until form 4547 is ready, even if some taxpayers don't want to use it.
