Question

Why can't I fill out form 8615? When I go to "Child's Income (Under Age 24)," it says I didn't have more than $2,200 in unearned income, but I do. $5k+ of unemployment.

I believe I meet the IRS requirements (under 24, more than half unearned, etc.) to fill out the form, but TT won't let me fill it out.

$2,200 of taxable unearned income.   The tax law just passed excludes the first $10,200 of unemployment form taxable income.

Perfect.  Thank you for the response.  That makes sense.
