Why am I getting so little back in taxes?

Are the stimulus checks from last year getting taken out of my taxes this year being that it’s saying I’m getting only $100 back when I made more last year

Stimulus payments that you received in 2021 are not entered on your tax return.  They are not taxable income.

 

Your Total taxes from Line 24 are subtracted from your Total tax payments on Line 33. If you have an overpayment then that is entered on Line 34 as your federal tax refund.

 

You can view your Form 1040 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

Did you make more income in 2021?  Usually more income = more tax = less refund.  Your withholding didn't increase enough to cover the tax due.  Or some credits you got are reduced because you made more income.
