Why am I being charged for my state return when it plainly says file by 3/15/18 and receive state free

this year has been such a pain - the program continually does not want to let me proceed and I am told a free state if meet deadline of 3/15 and I don't get that either - not sure I will ever use turbo tax again - so frustrated

The free state filing is only from the online Free Edition with Absolute Zero. The Free Edition only does very simple 1040EZ and 1040A returns and not the full 1040 and doesn't have deductions. Looks like you are using the Self Employed version which is a paid version. State is 39.99 in all paid versions Deluxe and higher. You can see the Online prices here. See, Deluxe and above say State Additional
