Why am I being charged a Transaction Fee of nearly $100 to pay my taxes?

The fine print when you use a credit card says Intuit uses a third party to process the card transaction, and that company charges almost 2.5% of your IRS payment! If you want to avoid the transaction fee, you have to back up and select a different payment method (direct debit from a bank account doesn't incur a fee).

Whatever benefit you get from using a credit card might not be worth the 2.5% the 3rd party charges.
