Where to input my name if I helped my friend prepare tax return without compensation? And I dont have PTIN.

Thank you very much.

I DO have a PTIN.  Must I use it on returns for which I receive no compensation?

You can't use a PTIN with Turbotax.  Turbotax is intended for taxpayers to self-prepare.  Using it with a PTIN is not allowed, violates the terms of service, and violates IRS regulations since the PTIN can't be added to the program.  Potentially, you could print the return, write in the PTIN, and file by mail, but this would still violate the TOS and you would lose the benefit of e-filing.

You do not enter your name if you were not paid to prepare the tax return. And if you do get paid to prepare a tax return, you cannot use TurboTax.

@rjs So his tax return will just show "self prepared", is that correct?

And I won't get paid, I dont have PTIN either. Thank you.

Yes, self-prepared is the only option with the consumer level versions of Turbotax.
