Question

Where can I find out why I received this message: "Our records indicate that you are not entitled to e-file one or more formsets."?

I have twice attempted to e-file my 2025 Fed and state (Virginia) taxes, get through "Transmitting" and "Success" screens, then receive the above failure message.

This message usually indicates that you are trying to file a return that contains a form that has not been finalized yet. the form number would normally show up when you do a review.

You can check Federal & State tax forms that are available here.

The IRS is not accepting tax returns until 1/26/26.  You can try waiting a few more days to a week, and then refile your tax return(s).

Thanks, TomK.  Nowhere did I find anything in online TurboTax to indicate which form was the problem, reviewing the entire return turned up nothing.  Resolved problem by using H&R Block desktop software, which (1) still works on Windows 10, (2) had NO problem transmitting any of my data, and most fun of all, (3) confirmed to me on Jan 22 that the IRS had indeed accepted my submitted return.  After using TurboTax for more than 15 years, I’m changing platforms to one which better serves my needs, not the other way around.
