When I go the "File" section, it does not give me an option to pay by check. I am helping my mom with her taxes and that's her payment method. Does anyone know why?

Since you can only mail in the return with payment at this late date then in the FILE tab simply choose that option.

@dslauderdales At this point the only way to file that return is by mail. E-filing is closed. And TurboTax never knows how, when or even if you pay your tax due. Are you saying it is asking how she will pay her tax due and pay by mailing a check is not shown as an option? Since she has to mail the tax return, she can enclose a check---there is nothing stopping her from doing that.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
