You only receive a tax refund if you have had federal income taxes withheld from your wages.  If there are no taxes being withheld and that is the only income you received in 2023 then you do not need to file a tax return.

Q. I only made $436 last year, can I still file and receive a refund?

A. It depends on more details.

There could be an earned income credit of $33 to $191 depending on your age, dependent status, and how many kids you have.
