What does it mean when my 2018 federal return was e-filed this morning at 8:29 am, then rejected today April 15. Now it shows accepted 4/17/19?

It is only 04/15/19 today.  Could you possibly be looking at information from last year?  If your return was accepted previously, you would not have been able to e-file a second time.  If you tried to file 2x, it makes sense that the return would be rejected.   Verify your status here -  Online E-file Lookup Tool

If you amended your return, the amendment form 1040X would have to be printed, signed and mailed.   If you have received an email that you feel is not legit, please report it to https://security.intuit.com/ .  Thank you!
