Question

We are married filing jointly. Our second child was born in late 2021. Does this second child qualify for the $1,400 stimulus payment? How do we claim that?

We received stimulus payments for ourselves and our older child (let's say, 5 years old).  Since our new baby was born October 2021, will the newborn qualify for the full stimulus (or prorated?).  We do not know if there is a box to check in our 2021 taxes to claim this or if it will pay out automatically and separately once the IRS sees the newborn on our 2021 taxes.

Enter your tax information into the software.  It should tell you if you qualify.

You get the full stimulus ($1400) plus child tax credit ($3600) for a child born in 2021. Use 12 months for time lived in home.
