Visual Studio causes TurboTax 2025 updater to hang

Recently I had a problem where TurboTax 2025 Premier on Windows 11 hung on an update attempt. There was no error message and I could find no error log. I called Tech Support and after a 2-hour phone call we discovered that I had to uninstall Visual Studio to fix the TurboTax problem. I see another post from March 2025 that refers to a possibly different Visual Studio issue. Shouldn't TurboTax and/or Microsoft have fixed this incompatibility by now? Or at least provided some documentation on how to work about these issues?

Can you please indicate what is the version of Visual Studio that you have on your machine? Also, it would be helpful to know the Visual Studio Redistributable version. Thank you!

I installed "Visual Studio Community 2026" from https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/. It's no longer installed, so I don't have more details.

I currently have "Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) - 14.44.35211" and "Microsoft Visual C++ v14 Redistributable (x64) - 14.50.35719" installed, but these do not affect TT updates. I may have uninstalled other Visual Studio Redistributables to get TT working, but I don't have a record of it.
