Question

Value entered in 1099-DIV line 12 are included in taxable income. Is this correct or is this in error?

Any value included increases tax due.  This has never been the case in previous years.

    When you enter the 1099-DIV you have to answer the questions after entry. You must select the government interest option and enter the amount when asked about uncommon situations.

     

    Please return to your federal income and edit the DIV in question and verify your answers.

    shouldn't be taxable for federal. line 12 should appear on federal 1040 line 2a but not 2b. however, they may be fully taxable for state purposes. the state laws regarding taxation vary widely. if they are showing up on 2b. delete the 1099-DIV and reenter manually. if still an issue contact support. i did not have your issue using a desktop version of Turbotax after entering an amount on line 12. Only the state was affected.
