Unable to transfer 2024 TT desktop tax return to 2025 TT desktop application on Mac computer

Apparently the 2024 application didn't save an importable version.  I only have a PDF from 2024.  I have opened the 2024 TT application but it will only let me save another PDF.  I've never had this problem before and have used TT for years on MAC computers.  I guess I am going to have to type everything in by hand.  So frustrated.  I've spent way too much time on this.

You need the .tax2024 file to transfer into 2025. Find tax files on Mac

My sister called me and couldn't transfer 2024 into her Mac. I told her to try opening the 2024 return in the 2024 program and let it update. Then save it again. Then transfer it into 2025. That worked.  To save again in 2024 go up to Duplicate.

People are saying to just close and reopen the 2025 program and then it will let you transfer. Or click on the 2024 data file and it opened the 2025 program and transferred.

Here's some posts I've collected about Transferring from 2024 into 2025 on Mac…..
On MacOS, I opened my .tax2024 with Turbo Tax 2025. A window popped up saying that "this file was saved with 2024 and needs to transfer to 2025 in order to use it". Clicked the transfer button and it was imported to 2025 correctly.

This post got it to work a weird way….

"I was having the same issue and stumbled upon a workaround. I tried opening the 2024 return using the 2025 software. Then a dialogue box opened up offering to transfer the file and this actually worked."
