TurboTax hasn't changed 2020 filing due date to 5/17/21?

I'm about to file my return electronically, but Turbotax hasn't changed the due date to 5/17/21 yet in the tax program? It still references April 15. Just want to make sure I can pay my taxes on 5/17/21 without penalty.

The IRS has not yet updated the e-file system for the later payment date. If TurboTax allowed you to e-file with a payment date after April 15, the IRS would reject the e-file.

Here are three choices for what you can do right now.

1. File now with a payment date of April 15 or earlier.

2. Wait to file until both the IRS and TurboTax have updated their software for the later date. Since you owe tax, you don't have to be in any hurry to file, so waiting is not a bad choice.

3. File now and say you will pay by check instead of direct debit. That doesn't mean you have to actually mail a check. You can pay online anytime between now and May 17. You can pay online directly from your bank account using Direct Pay on the IRS web site at the following link.
