I just posted a similar issue i think.  Does turbotax ask you something like:  Turbotax 2022 whats to use your confidential information stored in "some keychain name" in your keychain?   This error happens whenever i try to save the file (cursor over the file options).

I have the same problem/issue. Did Intuit ever respond to  your question and tell you how to resolve it?

January 3, 2023

I had the same problem, found this on another post about it. It worked!

The following steps (which were recommended by someone else in another post) seem to have solved this issue for me: (a) Restart the computer; (b) Start Turbotax and, when it asks for a keychain password, enter your computer screensaver or login password and click "always allow".  Good luck.

mindiw:  Clearing out and reinstalling will not help. This is a serious TT 2022 design flaw.

Critter-s: This is not a macOS problem.

xmasbaby0:  Thanks. Much!

(Today support had no information on this bug. Together we devised a work-around.  But this is a serious flaw that will drive away new users.  Not something that Intuit should want to go away with nothing but a work-around.)

At least one user reporting this wrote that they have never used the Keychain app.

And no TurboTax user should ever be asked to do that.

The product should work as installed.

This is a testing failure.

Thanks again, xmasbaby0, for calling in the community troops.

@joaquinoakland  I never said to clear out and reinstall.  Restart computer and go back into TT. Enter your computer password and click Always Allow. This gets rid of the dialog box and allows access to the File drop down menu.

I agree, this is a design flaw that needs to be fixed. A work around is not acceptable, but if you don’t want to wait for a fix that’s your option for now.

Hopefully @xmasbaby0  will get some results on a fix.

Every time I go to the file tab on my TurboTax it asks me to enter my keychain password. I enter my password and it doesn't accept it.  I have to always deny but then I do not have access to the File tab and cannot save as a PDF or other elements in file. Please provide a fix.  I have used TurboTax on my Mac for many years and never encountered this issue.  Online it sounds like this is a common problem for many Mac users.

I ended up (after saving all passwords on paper) reset keychain.  I then had to login to all my sites and reenter login and password.  A very poor way to get it to work.  TT needed to fix the problem.

I do not use the Keychain to manage passwords, so I have no active keychain info to give TurboTax. I'm trying to get to the File menu in Turbotax so that I can Save, Open, etc tax files, but when I hit Deny to provide access to my Keychain, the dialog box goes away but the File menu never pops up. This is a ShowStopper - I cannot use TurboTax if this is the case.

This bug is not related to use of Keychain Access by you.  The Intuit software has used your keychain.

The easiest way around this bug is:

   1) provoke the keychain pop-up, for example by attempting to save the file,

   2) enter your login and screensaver password

   3) click Always allow  (NOT clicking the highlighted Always; NOT pressing Return or Enter)

Thanks - I'll try this. I saw another post which mentioned having to reboot my machine, which seems like an excessive step to have to take, but whatever.

Very poorly tested product.

Does anyone have a fix for this problem yet?

Start TT 2022. When the file is open:

Menu>File

The message pops up

Enter your MacOS password (called "system", "login", or "screensaver" password)

DO NOT press Enter

Click the Always allow button

NOT the Allow button

Learn the name of a member of the Intuit Board of Directors.

Write a polite letter explaining that management is damaging the brandname that brings in the revenues and the profits of the shareholders.

the fix of entering screensaver password without hitting enter and always allow seemed to work. Fingers crossed.  Thank you to the member who posted this solution.

Natgene, which instructions are you using.

The one that begins "In some rare cases" ?

Or this one:

Start TT 2022. When the file is open:

Menu>File

The message pops up

Enter your MacOS password (called "system", "login", or "screensaver" password)

DO NOT press Enter

Click the Always allow button

NOT the Allow button

Turbotax 2023 is asking for me to enter my "login" keychain password.  Where would I find that if I do not have it?

The TurboTax Help article How do I access my password protected TurboTax Desktop file if I forgot the password? will provide you useful guidance.

JohnW152's reply to toni5239 has nothing to do with toni5239's problem.  The problem is the request by TurboTax for the keychain password.

The keychain password is the user's login password: the same password used to login to the operating system.
