Question

So far my return is over a thousand less than the previous year. Everything has been about the same though. What could be some factors for this?

1) more income and withholding that didn't increase to match the extra taxes owed?

or

2) a child who reached age 17 during 2019 ?

or

3)  Had a user the other day who typed withholding of $321 instead of $4321 on their software  W-2  (Pretty big user entry error).  Edit those forms and check all entries.

And the IRS changed the withholding tables so you got more in your checks during the year instead of a big refund.  Or there are other tax changes.  And any  dependents you have are a year older.  If you made more income that can reduce some credits you got like the EIC.
