To enter a K-1 go to
Federal Taxes Tab ( Personal in the H&B versions )
Wages and Income
Choose Explore on my own or I'll choose what to work on (if it comes up)
Then scroll way down to Business Items
Schedules K-1, Q - Click the Start or Update button

Be sure to pick the right kind of K-1. There are 3 kinds, 1041, 1065 & 1120S

you cannot make direct line entries ... that info is transferred from other forms you enter like the K-1

section A of K1 need to enter passive income box (c) but it wont take the #??

What type of K-1 is this (Partnership/1065, S-corporation/1120-S, or Estate/Trust/1041)?

Are you entering your K-1 in the section that asks for your K-1?

There is no "section A" or "passive income box (c)". What NUMBERED box is that amount in? Does that numbered box have a letter code next to it?

As Critter said above, you DON'T enter directly on Schedule E. You need to enter your K-1 in the program where it asks for it.

For your personal 1040 tax return, there is nothing on page 2 of the SCH E that *YOU* will physically enter directly into the program on that schedule. All data on page 2 of the SCH E comes from another document that you enter into the program, such as a K-1 you received from a partnership or corporation. So if things are not right on page 2 of the SCH E, the problem is "NOT" with page 2 of the SCH E. The problem is with the K-1, or the 4792 if you took a SEC 179 deduction on something.
Now in order to tell you where to check and look, you need to tell us if your K-1 is a 1065 K-1, an 1120 K-1 or an 1120-S K-1 because it matters big time. The lines on each type of K-1 *do* *not* *match* with each other. so it matters the type of K-1 you got, as well as the type of K-1 you told the program you got.
