running manual update for Turbo Tax

I can not get the auto update to run when I launch Turbo Tax, so I followed the directions to manually update. I downloaded the file and ran the file. It told me it was successful and asked if I wanted to launch Turbo Tax. I clicked yes and it relaunched Turbo Tax which automatically runs the update package which fails and then closes, and I am not able to open Turbo Tax. If I have manually updated the system why is it not letting me open it?
