Redundant Payment not on W2

Hello,

I am currently overseas and was laid off in Sep 2020 and given a redundancy payment.

I did receive a W2 as usual from my employer but the redundancy payment amount is not included, i expect the redundancy payment would show up in 2021 W2.

Can I use my current W2 to file my taxes or not?

Thanks

Yes, you will file tax year 2020 returns using the W2 you have for 2020.  You will use the 2021 W2 to file next year's taxes.  The W2s are issued to the IRS with a copy to you from the employer.

The IRS will be reconciling the employer reported information with your tax return information so they need to match.
