The employer's payroll did not calculate qualified overtime correctly. I calculated all paystubs. Am i required by turbo tax software to use the box 14 amount on my W2  in order to get turbo tax to accept and file my return? What I am asking, in plain language is, since we are allowed to calculate the amount ourselves, and the employer is NOT REQUIRED to separate it out, if they made a mistake, will I be able to enter the correct amount?

Box 14 is a purely informational box on a W-2 and does not get reported on the tax return.  Please do know that only the overtime premium is deductible and not the full amount of the overtime.  For example, if you are paid $20/hour and you had overtime paid at $30/hour or even double-time pay at $40/hour, then only $10/per hour would be deductible.  If you have records that show that the overtime premium your were paid is different from what your employer determined, you can definitely report you own calculations on your return.  Keep your records handy on how you determined that amount of overtime premium pay for the deduction.
