Cannot get information on Stimulus Payment from IRS Site

I filed electronically using Turbotax Freefile sponsored by the IRS.  IRS acknowledged receiving return on April 10th.  When I check status of my stimulus payment on IRS site it first said "Status Not Available", Now it says "Please try again later.

We are unable to provide you with the status of your payment or perform the action requested because:

    • The tax return information you entered does not match our records; or
    • You have already accessed the system the maximum number of times today.

Please come back after 24 hours and try again."

I put in my info correctly, identically from what is on my return.  And this is the first time I've checked on it in the last 24 hrs.  I read in the media there is a problem for people who filed with TurboTax and H&R Block.  I cannot find any answers on TurboTax  and when I called them they said they didn't know either.  So what do I do now??  WHERE YOU AT TURBOTAX?  I'VE USED YOU FOR 10 YEARS

I updated my direct deposit info on Wednesday because sadly the IRS did not have my information which definitely was on my tax forms.   Still no deposit date when I check the IRS site.  My only question now is when will deposits be sent for those people who had to update their info through no fault of their own.

@8160 I also had that happen to me and they locked me out for 24 hrs two days in a row. My issue was the way I entered my address. Of course we know our addresses but it must be exactly as it is on your return. Try to enter it That way and see what happens!!! Hope this helps

Turbo tax filed our taxes with there acct number.....however the forms we got sent via email ...had our correct info.....they do this to obtain filing fees .....however they never notified it's of our real number because they figured we have our returns already and wouldn't hear from us till next year....the stimulus has caught them an every other tax preperation company with there pants down....they've known it passed a month ago and I don't know why they didn't get the right numbers filed in 4 weeks...but they are in business to make money and they already got ours....

I hope someone can help me.  I applied for the stimulus payment as a non filer because I don't pay taxes right now.  I have 2 dependent children under the age of 17.  They also receive death benefits through Social Security for their dad.  I received a SSA 1099 form at the beginning of the year.  Will I or my children be eligible for the stimulus payment?

I have filed my 2018 Federal Income Tax Return however had to pay a small balance, hence no direct deposit information on the 2018 Tax Return.  I was laid off  in July 2019 and received a large severance and other associated payments, with all this has put me over the threshold for the COVID-19 stimulus relief.  Therefore,  now I am unemployed and still haven't found a position as of now, the COVID-19 stay at home situation has made this even more difficult.  I am holding off filing my 2019 tax return so I can get the stimulus relief funds based on my 2018 tax return, however, when I check the Get My Payment on the IRS website I get this response:

    Payment Status Not Available

According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time.

So I am asking what would others do.  If I file my 2019 tax return now I will get nothing due to the severance plus I am not getting a refund in 2019.  I am unemployed currently and the stimulus relief package would really help my family, and I owed a small balance on my 2018 federal tax return and IRS doesn't have my direct deposit info for 2018, they have it on the 2017 tax return though, since I had a refund that year.  I am in a very difficult situation.  Any advice on what I should do.  Will I get a check for the stimulus or will they wait until July 15, 2019 deadline to determine info which will rule me ineligible anyways?  I think I am going to get screwed.

    Any suggestions would help.

@WindyCityME Not an accountant and I'm not giving tax advice. My guess is that when you file your TY2020 tax return in April 2021, that they will "take back" the $1,200 stimulus payment if in fact you were over the income threshold to qualify. I'm sure you're not the only one in this situation. I don't see a way for them to modify anything about the 2019 1040 that gets filed July 15, 2020, so your idea of delaying your 2019 filing until July might work, at least temporarily.

Regarding the  "Payment Status Not Available" message - make sure you enter the information in the form exactly as it was on your last tax filing, including capitalization(s), punctuation if any, etc. IOW, their system needs an exact match, not a "close" match.

What should I do if the ( Get MY Payment ) app is saying my annual gross income or tax return amount does match the IRS's records for 2018 or 2019? I have files all my taxes through Turbo Tax for the last 10 years...

I still can’t get passed the payment status not avail message, but on Friday I there was a dd to my bank which was a reduced about and the description reads “temp adj for covid stimulus pymt access”. It doesn’t to say who it’s from and I called my bank and they couldn’t tell me either. It doesn’t say it’s and have an account number like the irs deposited the money. My bank couldn’t give me any answers except this is the first transaction they’ve seen like this and all stimulus payments like tax returns if from the irs clearly say irs. So I then called intuit and was able to find a person and they told me they don’t see any of the funds that it comes directly from the irs. Yes I got some and I understand people are still haven’t reciprocate anything but the amount is less than half what it should be and I can’t come up with any match for the description on any site or google. I highly doubt the irs would send me anything with out a clear description of what it is and where that it came from them. “Temp adj” lol I get stuff happens, that’s life but there hasn’t been 1 party who has stepped up to address people’s questions and concerns. TurboTax points at the irs the irs points at TurboTax. We have to do business with the irs we don’t have to do business with TurboTax which I don’t know anyone half in their right mind that would risk filing with you in the future. No support at all.

If I’ve never had to file as an Injured Spouse before with my husband but I need to now for the stimulus check do I just send that form in now? Do I use the info from last tax season on the info from the stimulus check?  (They took my husbands, mine and my two boys portions for child support((child support isn’t even his but one issue at a time.))  HELP! I’m so confused on how to go about this.
