Question: instead of depositing my stimulus check onto the TurboTax card from my 2019 return, the IRS deposited it onto the card I received from my 2017 return. I no longer have that card. Can’t get through to anyone. How can I recover the funds?

@Dannyblaze420  Call the bank that issued that card. If the account is just completely closed, I believe the deposit $ is returned. If it's still open and you just have a different card, the bank will know, and automatically add it to the correct account.

The “bank” is TurboTax card through green dot.

Does anyone know many stimulus checks will people get?

As of right now, it's just one. There is legislation in the House of Representatives right now to make it a monthly stimulus of $2000. It would be nice until this thing is over, but I wouldn't look for it to pass the Senate.

Yeah. No comment... but I agree, that would really help a lot of people. But I don't think the Senate would approve that kind of stimulus.

I am a student who was claimed by her parents on her 2018 tax return. My situation has changed and on my 2019 taxes I claimed myself. Will I get the stimulus check? They look on your 2018 or 2019 taxes and I just filed today.

For those of you who have put in your TT Debit Card info recently, how long does the IRS site say it's going to take for your stimulus check to come in?  Just curious, as I don't yet have a payment date listed.

I've submitted my 2019 taxes April 15th and My taxable income dropped from 2018. Will my stimulus check be adjusted with the lower income?

@WmFerris Depends on whether you filed 2018. If you did they might've already used your 2018 info. Check: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment

If they've already used your 2018 info, you should be able to see that from the Get My Payment link.

I have filed 2018 through turbo tax but not 2019 yet , I want to know if IRS has my bank account info to send stimulus check?

@Huseynov89  Go to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment You'll need to enter some info from your 2018 return; then you'll be able to see if they've issued a payment, and check to see if they have the correct direct deposit info.

Hello, I accidentally claimed myself as an independent when I meant dependent of my parents. I received a stimulus check but that shouldn't happen because I'm supposed to be dependent and I'm a student.

Looking for help on completing 1040-X

    • @hydn If you're referring to accidently claiming yourself on your 2019 return (or 2018), and the IRS didn't already correct your mistake for you, consider whether you received a refund, as you'll likely have to pay that back. You don't necessarily have to amend your return by today.
    • Note: If you're 17 to 24, AND your parents already claimed you, not only would they not qualify for the xtra $500 for dependents on their stimulus (dependents have to be 16 or under to qualify for the xtra $500), but you also wouldn't qualify for any stimulus payment at all.
    •  if you made a huge mistake on your return, or if you forgot to report something important (like being married), you'll want to fix it by amending your previously filed tax return with the 1040X. I would get in touch with support here, if you filed with turbotax. They'll be able to help you with the 1040X.
    • I'm not telling you what to do, but unless your parents hadn't already filed, and are now UNABLE to claim you until you fix it, I wouldn't worry about trying to get that amendment filed by today. Even if you amend today, it's going to take quite awhile for the IRS to handle your amended return, which would likely affect your parents trying to file and claim you anytime soon anyway.

In 2018 I filed 1040NREZ so I am not eligible for stimulus. I have to file 2019 tax since I became resident alien in 2019. Is there a deadline to file 2019 tax for stimulus? I just filed today by turbotax but don't know if it works to file so late

I'm not sure how I managed to file as a "non-filler" I did my taxes last year, I still have to do them this year. However, I changed banks ever since, so I wanted to enter my new information... I can't find any information on this. Does anyone know what to do?

I have a negative AGI and the "get payment" tool on the irs website won't accept a "-" symbol when I enter the number. I get locked out for 24 hours after entering the "wrong" information once. I'm at wits end. Anybody know what to enter for AGI in this case? I'm filing a 1040 and entering (trying to) line 8b. Thanks in advance
