NY State "Inflation Relief" Stimulus check 2025 - TT Premiere 2025 still NOT updated to handle this
I am using the paid-for TT Premiere 2025 desktop version, and I have been waiting (3) months for a fix to the missing entry in TT to handle the 2025 NY State "Inflation Relief" Stimulus check. It is a payment that is taxable Federally, but not by NY State. It is reported on a 1099-G for 2025. I itemize each year.
So far, the posted solutions, even by the Intuit employee experts, have been at best workarounds to fake out TT 2025 into not taxing this on the 2025 NY return. The only category option given on the NY "Subtractions" menu for this payment that is even close in description would be: "Taxable refunds (not included in line 4 of IT-201".
However, during the Smart Check, TT flags this entry as an error and then forces a choice to then identify this as a refund to be from a specific previous tax year (2025 is not an allowed choice). The popular answer given by the experts seems to be to identify this with the 2023 tax year (which is not true since this is not a tax refund that was part of my 2023 tax return). Again this economic stimulus payment check was received from NY State in 2025, reported on a 1099-G for 2025, and was not part of any previous income tax filing.
So, will Intuit be updating TT 2025 to address this problem before the April 15 filing deadline, or do I need to follow the Intuit expert employees' advice to falsely identify this a refund from the 2023 tax year in order to bypass an error in the TT software?
