I cannot get past the Review status for this section of my return.

Is there a known problem with the program?

Yes, this can be an issue that may have been generated because of mismatched information. Here are some possible remedies.

If you are using TurboTax Online:

    1. Delete the NJ IRA Worksheet: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a form. Delete the NJ IRA Wks-SP and the NJ 1099-R Worksheet
    2. Re-run the State Interview: Go back into the New Jersey section. When it asks about retirement income, pay close attention to the "New Jersey Property Tax/Retirement" screens.
    3. Manual Entry of NJ Basis: When prompted for "Contributions previously taxed by NJ," if you don't have the exact number from 20+ years ago, many users enter their Total Federal Basis (from Form 8606) as a starting point to satisfy the software’s requirement for a value.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop (CD/Download):

    1.  Switch to Forms Mode (top right).
    2. Find NJ IRA Wks-SP in the list on the left. Select it.
    3. Look for any fields highlighted in Red. Often, it's a simple "Yes/No" box or a "0" that needs to be manually entered to satisfy the calculation.
    4. If the math is correct but the software is stuck, you can right-click the offending field and select Override. Note: Overriding can sometimes prevent e-filing, so use this only as a last resort
