new 2026 charitable contribution rules update in what if form

Does anyone know if Turbotax has begun to include the new charitable deduction rules for 2026 (including those for non-itemizers) in the 2026 Turbotax Desktop "what if" form? From what I can see, it hasn't yet, but it will make a BIG difference at this time next year, so hopefully they will get on it soon. For some of us tax nerds, it's never too soon to start planning for the NEXT filing season! 🙂

For those that do not itemize, the maximum is $2,000 for joint files and $1,000 for others. Must be in cash or cash equivalent, such as payroll deduction to a public charity - 501(c)(3). Donations to private foundations and donor-advised funds are not eligible.For any contribution of $250 or more (including contributions of cash or property), you must obtain and keep in your records a contemporaneous written acknowledgment from the qualified organization indicating the amount of the cash and a description of any property other than cash contributed.

A workaround right now for TurboTax might be to reduce any item of ordinary income by the amount of the deduction you will be eligible to deduct. State tax effect unknown

Nice thing about the "what-if" form is that it helps you to determine WHETHER to itemize by including all of your past charitable contributions and see what the overall impact would be.
