Question

My wife passed away in 2019. We had no children. I am unsure of my filing status for my tax return this year.

I believe I was able to file a joint return for 2019 in 2020. But I I am unsure of my filing status for the 2020 return to be filed in 2021.

Unless you remarried, file as Single for 2020.

Sorry for your loss.    You were able to file a joint return for 2019 since that is the year that she passed away.  For 2020, since you have no dependent children, you will file as Single.

sorry for your loss.

in the year of loss, you can file joint, but the subsequent year, you file single (there are special rules if you have young children, but you note you have no children).  So you are correct to have filed joint in 2019, but for 2020 (to be filed in 2021) you file 'single'.
