My wife earned about $1,700 and on her W2 there is a 0 amount in Federal Income Tax withheld. Is this a mistake that needs correcting? I make 59K and pay fed taxes.

it depends on how she filled out her w-4 but $0 is most likely correct. the only way to check is review check stubs to see what they show or contact her employer.
