I agree. I only received $1680 and should have received $2900 based on filing joint with two kids. $5 less for every $800 over $150,000.

Ours is wrong too! It’s a random amount.  Not because of income limits or missing children amounts or any fines due the IRS.  Anyway you do the math, according to all of the websites and calculators, it should be round numbers.  We got $3445.65 instead of $4400 for Dad, Mom filing joint and then 4 dependent kids under 6.  We even filed 2018 and 2019 taxes.  Go figure!  Any guesses?

Same, only got $2400. Should be $3900 with 3 dependents. Wondering what to do.

The exact same thing happened to us (baby born in November, received refund in February). Please let us know what you find out!

I had the same issue, just got my check and instead of the 3400 we only got 2900 for filing married with 2 dependents and were way below the 150000

My husband and I filed married joint and we are under $150,000. We have 2 kids ages 12 and 15. We only received $2400. My in-laws received $3900, they have 3 kids. I don’t understand why we didn’t get the money for our kids. There is no way to find out.

Although grateful for any money that I wasn’t expecting, I continue to get screwed and would be on the streets with 4 kids if it wasn’t for the other laws in place to protect me from eviction. I’m a single mom, no child support and 3 out of 4 children who qualify. I received $1700 today instead of $2700 and I STILL have not received my tax refund that I depend on to make it through the year when I filed on February 5!!! Just to clarify, I only make $20K a year with no debts owed to IRS, or anyone for that matter, and the qualifying kids are 12, 8 and the youngest born in Sept 2019. I’m fortunate to work for an “essential business” but that alone doesn’t cover my monthly bills. I need info and can’t get it anywhere. HELP!!!

I had filed 2019 and my 2019 income would qualify me for $2,400. The 2019 return was received by IRS because I already got my refund. However for the stimulus IRS took the 2018 income, which got me $1,300. Will IRS adjust for taking the 2018 income which was higher ?

I am a single mother of a 5 year old boy. I got 1200 instead of 1700. I’m well within the agi so what happens now??

Look at your tax return and see if you checked the box for “child tax credit” on the first page of your tax return.. that is where I made my mistake. I didn’t put he lived with me the whole year like I was supposed to.

Hope this helps some of you, I was confused with mine as well until I read about this.

When you file your taxes there is a phase out threshold income for the child tax credit. If you are above the threshold, you might not have qualified for the full child tax credit(s) although your child(ren) are dependent(s). The income cap is less than the stimulus cap, but they went off your last tax return.
