Question

My son didn’t mark box allowing me to claim him as a dependent so he needs to file the 1040-x correct? If so can he do that through Turbo Tax?

My return was rejected because my son filed already but did not check box allowing him to be a dependent. Can we use Turbo tax to amend this?

He should amend his return to check the box that says "I can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer." If he used software, he should use the same software package. If he did not use software, but wants to use software to amend, that's a bit complicated.

You will still need to file by mail to claim your dependent. Even if your son files and amended return, it won't clear the database that is blocking you.
