My father passed away last year in May 2024,do I still need to file his 2024 taxes?

    if he made tax payments for 2024 the only way to get them back is to file. also, see Chart A in the 1040 instructions to see if filing is otherwise needed

    A final tax return does need to be filed if he was required to file one based on his income up to the date of his death. The executor of your father's estate would be responsible for preparing the return. If there is no one legally charged with that responsibility, it is normally done by the one who takes on the responsibility of distributing the deceased property.
