Question

My daughter lives with me and I support her financially since she lives with me. She had a child this year. Can I claim her a dependent and the child or only her?

If your daughter is 19 or older (or 24 or older and a full time student), you can claim her as a dependent if you provided more than half of her support and her gross income in 2016 is less than $4,050.

If your daughter is not required to file a tax return, you can also claim her child as a dependent.
