My child was born in late December 2016. Is there a faster way to get his SSN or do I have to wait for it to come in the mail

You can go to the Social Security Administration building and get a print out with the number. When you file your return be sure to select the child lived with you the whole year. Any child born during the year qualifies as being in the home the entire year.
