Mother passed away in middle of 2021

My mother passed away in the middle of 2021 and I was the executor of her estate.

The estate value was about $1,000,000 including the sale of her home and was distributed to a number of people.

What do I need to file for her, for her estate and do I need to add anything to my personal return?

I am sorry for your loss.

You should absolutely seek professional tax guidance from a local professional and, possibly, legal counsel.

For starters, you might want to read through the following IRS publication if you are the personal representative.

I highly recommend you seek local professional assistance if you are unsure of what to do ... you may need to file a final personal return for the decedent as well as an estate return depending on the circumstances.

You may wish to review this resource for more tax guidance about your situation: Death in the Family.
