K-1 Box 11B From Estate Non-Miscellaneous Deductions Not Subject to the 2% Limit
I received a final K-1 from my father's estate. Box 11(B) in the K-1 has some $2,000 in expenses which preparer says are legal & accounting fees related to income generated and not subject to the 2% limit. In the Easy Step in Turbo Tax, I fill out the K-1 entry and put in the $2,000 value in Box 11 (B) for excess deductions on termination.
I then get a notice that states "Your entry for Box 11B will require some follow-up." It states that I'll need to enter the amount(s) from the statement in the corresponding topic in Turbo Tax, but it is unclear where and how to enter the data. I am itemizing this year, so it seems that I need to enter this amount somewhere so it can track into my Schedule A. Where do I enter this information if it is not subject to the 2% limit?
Importantly, if I try to manually add it to my Schedule A using the Override function, I then get an error message under Smart Check which basically states not to use the Override function if you are electronically filing your taxes.
Can someone please provide detailed instructions on where and how to enter this amount - and if you have to use the Override function, does the SmartCheck still work. Thank you!
