It automatically put my filing status as single even though I have a qualifying dependent child. I want to change it to head of household. How do I do this?

If TurboTax is giving you the status of single even though you have a child it is due to how you answered one of the questions. Most likely it would be that you lived with someone else and they paid over half the cost of the household. If this is NOT the case, then you can go back to the personal info section and walk back through the questions and answer that NO, no one else lived with you and provided over half the cost of the household.

If in fact, you did live with someone else who pays for more than half of the cost of the household, then you would not be able to claim head of household. You would need to stay with single with a dependent.
