Question

is there a way to get your tax returns to a PDF without paying for the expert? I need 2 of my previous years for a car accident settlement and am told I have to pay

Start by calling customer support. Only they can unlock the files without payment, if they are locked.

In the past, if you used Free turbotax, your file would be locked after a certain period of time. (It should not be locked if you use a paid version.) I thought they changed the policy on locking files, but maybe not. If you did not save or download a PDF at the time you filed, and your file is now locked, you would have to ask support to see if they will unlock your file.
