IRS has not processed my 2020 paper filing of 1040

I used turbo tax last year but my 1040 could not be filed electronically. Therefore , I printed it out, signed it and enclosed a check for taxes due. The IRS website notes that I have not filed. I did but do not have a “postal receipt. I was trying to call the irs but they told me to keep checking the website — they were overloaded due to Covid issues. What do I do now?

    If they cashed the check you know they got the return so all you can do is wait for them to process it.

    To file the 2021 return you will indicate the 2020 return has not processed yet so the program will enter a zero for the AGI ... just follow the interview screens.

    Was your check cashed?

    Where’s My Refund? will display the status of your refund, usually on the most recent tax year refund the IRS has on file for you.

    Online Account allows you to securely access more information about your individual account.

    @DawnC

    First you cannot check a 2020 return on the WMR? tool at this late date  AND you cannot check a balance due return with the Where's My REFUND ?  tool.
