If I worked 5 months last year and am not working now should I9 change my Occupation information now or next year?

That beginning box doesn't matter.  It's not use for anything.  Put whatever you want.

The occupation given on your tax return is for statistical information only and has no effect on your taxes.

 

Feel free to use any occupation that suits you or that you like best.

"Occupation" is not used for anything that affects your tax due or refund.  The IRS only uses that for statistical purposes.  Use whatever you want to use.  But since you worked in 2023 and are preparing a 2023 tax return....the occupation you had in 2023 would make sense.
