If I have found a programming error (not a calculation error) in TurboTax, how do I notify them so they can correct the program?

I live in Illinois but was a student in Wisconsin.  Turbo Tax software put a deduction for tax paid to another state while a Illinois resident.  Illinois has sent a return correction notice indicating that Illinois residents cannot claim a credit for taxes received in Wisconsin.  Based on this, it shows that I will be paying duplicate taxes in Illinois and Wisconsin.  Since the software continues to deduct the amount paid to Wisconsin on the Illinois return, how do i fix this?

There is a reciprocal agreement between Illinois and Wisconsin. A reciprocal agreement, also called reciprocity, is an agreement between two states that allow residents of one state to request exemption from tax withholding in the other (reciprocal) state. This can save you the trouble of having to file multiple state returns, in your case, IL and WI tax returns.

You should have claimed a refund on your WI nonresident return and paid tax to your resident state. 

 

Amend your state returns if you need to.

 

Fill out Form W-220 and give it to your employer to avoid this.

It seems that a CO refund from 2020 was carried over as prepayment of CO taxes in 2021. Line 32 of the 2020 CO form 104 was carried over to Line 19 on CO 2021 form 104.

in the Canadian program. under principle residence, I felt it was calculating wrong, so ended up entering the info twice, then deleted the extra one, which worked from a final tax form, but then I am getting errors that say I have not "FIX' so to hit fix,  which i hit fit, but because the sub form is not there it kicks it out.  so i just ignore, but then it doesn't let me file because of these errors.  so I have to print and send in.

Box 5 on the Social Security fotm 1099 is net benefits. Box 5 onTurbotax is for RRB benefits. I have no RRB benefits. I think my entry should be zero

Did you click on the wrong thing?  In my desktop program it first asks the type of benefits received with 2 choices.  See if there is another box at the top to check for Social Security.

Are you in the Online version?  I  made a screen shot.  Look or the SS box at the top.  There are 2 boxes you can check.

Turbotax will not accept numeric inputs in the input box for property taxes on real estate.  I updated turbotax and reinstalled the program.  This same issue was reported previously over the last two or three years.  

 

What do I have to do to run the program as an administrator?

If there is already a 0 in the box for the property taxes then put your cursor in the box and double-click.  This will open the Support Details window where you can delete or add information and amounts.

 

Otherwise if you are using one of the TurboTax desktop editions for Windows -

Save your tax return.

Close the TurboTax program

Right click on the TurboTax icon on your display screen

Click on Properties

Click on the Compatibility tab

Check the box Run this program as an administrator

Click on Apply and then on OK

Start the TurboTax program and see if the problem persists

The number at the top of the screen shows a tax payment due while the forms show a credit. This has already been submitted to the IRS. It showed a correct refund at the time. How can you fix this?
