Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IPPIN)

We, my spouse and I are filing our 1040 tax return and claiming my daughter as a dependent.  My daughter  has an (IPPIN), and she also also filing a her tax return, short form.  Question; do I put the IPPIN in both her return and my spouse and I return as well.

    Yes, the 6 digit IP PIN would be entered on both tax returns.

    I was not solicited to enter my wife's IPPI number this year ... previously in past years was.  Where and during what process do I enter this info?

    To enter a 6 digit IP PIN

    • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
    • Click on Other Tax Situations
    • Scroll down to Other Return Info
    • On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button

    Or enter ip pin in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to ip pin
