Question

I was missing my $500 dependent amount on my stimulus check. I was told I would get another $500 at income tax due to having a baby in 2020, but it’s not showing that.

When inputting my stimulus amount it says I’m only missing $500, where’s the other $500?

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check this year, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021—if you are eligible. It will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

Make sure that when you entered information about the child who was born in 2020 in My Info that you say your child lived with you for the whole year.  You have to say that for a newborn in order to get the child-related credits---and you have to enter the child's Social Security number.

to get a 500 credit with Donald J Trump's name on it, you had to have a child in 2018 or 2019.
